A look back at Penrose Quay

From the early 1800’s Penrose Quay (Penrose Dock) has been a prominent site in Cork with a wealth of history.

Originally built in 1824, Penrose House soon became home to the renowned St George Steam Packet Company (later to be known as City of Cork Steamship Company). Serving as the base for ships coming and going from Cork the site then became home to the terminus for the first railway tunnel in Ireland.
